Its a shame you haven't said what part of the world you live in as I could have given you a few links but you can actually buy special metal nozzles which you can put on to the end of liquid glue.
The other thing you can use is a tooth pick, dip it in the glue and do whatever you want with it. You can even create patterns.

Good craft shops sell this kind of thing, but if you're desperate right now, try using a knitting needle to dip in the glue and spread it out.

I was able to get a package of three at walmart for around $5. Zellers also had them in the stationary department for around the same price.
