Sorry about that, but I was feeling really cranky that day, and I just lost it. Next thing I knew, 1/4 of your people were dead.

I'll try to do better, but you really oughta keep the remaining 3/4 a safe distance from me when I've been drinking.

Who are "our people"? Be specific. If you are talking about human kind and designating a 'who' rather than a 'what' that would be helpful to know as well.

If you are talking about 'humankind', diseases have (over known human history) killed a lot more than 1/4 (a quarter) of the population - the catalyst, however, would be people (as carriers) - particularly Western Europeans (i.e. - Crusaders, Colonialists, Warmongers, etc.) who could be considered responsible for the extinction of many indigenous peoples.
