Guys who show off are typically, need to be center of attention at all times. So in a way it clashes with women because we crave attention from the other. If we don't get that attention we are not very happy.
Quiet guys tend to be nice but we have to make the advancement.
So really what women want is a Gentleman. But for those of you that need a little help, follow these steps.
#1 Quiet and Reserved - when need to be
#2 When you go to pick up a chick say " I know you have heard this a Million times but your gorgeous" complete eye contact while saying it.
#3 order your drink offer her one, after getting your drink, walk away.
#4 If you did this properly, she will ask to sit with you.
#5 If you did not, give her looks of interest.

I'd say I prefer a quiet guy. That being said, it is really cute the way you guys puff up when you feel like you've done something big and important (fix the car, score a goal, whatever.) So I guess he should have the ability to show off every once in a while, but not all the time.

i dont think girls like guys who show off too much or too quiet. guys have to have the right response at the correct points of time i guess.

the answer to this is very complicated but I DO have the answer tot his question. Regaurdless what ANYONE else tells you THIS is the answer. Girls like cocky, modest guys. Here's what I mean. You have to be subtle but yet cocky at the same time. If your just sim[ply cocky girls despise this. If your modest they think yoru boring and weak. Say a girl tells you "you're hot" You can't say "I know" or they roll their eyes. You have to reply with a modest answer like "Thanks." while ACTING cocky by kinda raising your eyebrows when you say it as if you've heard that 100 times and it bores you. They can't hate this because yoru remaining a gentlemen and not tRYING to be cocky...BE subtle and modest but ACT cocky.
