I love Lucy and she did a lot for both females in movies and and television, but I think Carol Burnett was more versatile and enduring. She took on more social issues and brought others to the spot light. I would have to say both are icons but I admire Carol Burnett more.

Carol Burnett... Lucy was great but did not have the range that Carol does. But it is kind of an apples to oranges question.

If I HAD to choose, I guess I'd have to pick Carol Burnett. When her show was on, it was the funniest ever, with Tim Conrad and Harvey Korman and Vicki Lawrence. Loved that show! But I also remember watching I Love Lucy episodes when I was little and I laughed watch Lucy and her friend Ethel get into trouble - especially when Lucy would try to get included into one of Desi's shows as one of the girls in the background. They were always hilarious.
