I started my period on 14th June and it ended on Sunday 18th. I had sex last night (no birth control). My cycle is very regular. I know i should be ovulating around the 26th or 27th June. How long can the sperm survive in the body????
Could i get pregnant? Or are the chances too low six days before ovulating?

Sperm can live in the female body up to 3-5 days *if* conditions are right. Otherwise, they die within a few hours. It is nearly impossible if you were 6 days before ovulation--you would have to have sperm with an extremely long lifespan *and* a long fertile period yourself.

However, how do you know you will ovulate around the 26-27 June? If you are using an online ovulation calendar, you should know that they *don't* tell you when you will ovulate. There are 2 types of online calendars. One tells you when a mythical average woman would ovulate. The other tells you when a just-as-mythical average woman with your cycle length would ovulate. You are not average. In fact, average is *wrong* for most women! If, for instance, you were to mistakenly believe that all women were 5'4" tall because that's average, you would usually be wrong. So, it is possible that you will actually ovulate a day or two earlier than you think and you could get pregnant.

There is always a chance of getting pregnant. It is more likely at the beginning of the cycle but that doesn't mean it's not possible any other time. I think sperm can last for a few days inside the body but that is really irrelevant.

sperm can live in a woman for up to a week but most only live between 5 and 6 days so there is a possibility that you will get pregnant even if you do not have sex in the next few days

The sperm can live up to 7 days in the uterus, as they make their way to the fallopian tubes. If you don't want to be pregnant, I would get the day after pill now to stop ovulation and prevent the pregnancy.

Even though these q/a below are set up for teens, the answers are great and simple to understan.

In my experience you really need to be having intercourse about every two to three days, no sperm can really survive longer than that once they're in there. Even regular cycles result in irregular ovulation. Keep trying, you can have a break from all that sex once you've caught!

It is said that very healthy viable sperm can survive up to 7 days in fertile conditions in the womb.

The average life span of sperm is about 3 days though.

Just because you're meant to ovulate on the 26th doesn't necessarily mean you do some women have longer or shorter cycles.
If you don't want to get pregnant then don't have unprotected sex

sperm can live inside a woman for 72 hours after sex, if it hasn't done it job by then (fertilised and egg) it dies due to hormones inside a woman, but still if you are really worried do a test.
