I read it because my brother was raving about Paulo C. and this books, and he figured I'd like it since I love to read. To be honest, it wasn't the best book I've ever read…definitely not the worst, but not worth all the adoration either in MY opinion.

I liked it. It didn't impress me THAT much, Veronika impressed me better. (Did you know that the character of Eduard, the schizophrenic, is inspired in Cohelo's own experience? His parents locked him up when he said he wanted to be a writer) I have read everything from him except Maktub and The Fifth Mountain (though is my mother's fave). You should read Brida. In my opinion is even a better love story than By the river Piedra...
Also read Eleven Minutes is very relatable to women. The Zahir is not very good...
