Rock music is probably the greatest music genre ever, purely because there is so much heart and soul put into it, the people who created rock and roll ( Chuck Berry, etc) left a blueprint for others to follow, which still works today...anybody who likes rock music will tell you that bands like Led Zeppelin, are as popular today as they were at the height of their fame in the 1970's and forget about all the new fake rock music...most people listen to albums that were made years ago...

Rock music is going to be around in some form for as long as people will be. Not necessarily as we know it, though. I mean, today's rock is not at all like rock in the 50's, but we still refer to both as rock. It is always going to be a basic music category, but it will evolve as far as the sound and the content. Rock 50 years from now will not be at all like rock today.

Rock music is pretty much dead as far as the mainstream is concerned... The dominant majority of what you hear on the radio and on MTV is pop... I think rock as an idea and as a form of expression will live forever but this power-chords-on-the-guitar-with-lyrics-about-your-ex-girlfriend stuff has to die out soon...
