Our front screen door broke off the hinges. What tools, experience do I need to put a new screen door up? Or should I call a door repair guy?

they are really easy to do even for the novice repair guy.....you will need a drill/screwdriver and a level maybe.....thats pretty much it. the door should come with all the hardware needed to do the job. you can even probably mount new hinges where old ones were at.

If the door is ok, other than it pulled off the hinges you can try a couple of things- Replace the Hinge and use larger Screws if its metal- if it pulled out of wood, shave a piece of wood and make a wedge to fit into the Door frame screw hole and glue it in, packed- let it dry ,then put it back up.
To Replace- buy the same size door with the Same Swing- use a tapered wedge to hold the door up as you fit the hinges, to the frame. The bottom will have a sliding piece to adjust to the threshold, unless it is a wood door.

I don't have a screen door on my french door... and I've never had screens on my sliding doors. There are removable screen doors that you could purchase that hang up with magnets so that you can leave your doors open when you want to... then, when you're ready to move, you can take these with you. Plenty of people leave their doors closed -- open the windows or sit outside.

Cordless drill, phillips screw driver, level, tape measure and a pencil are the tools needed. You also might need a pair of tin snips, one door I installed required them. Follow the instructions have a helper when you get to the hanging of the door. Check out garysullivan.com it gives a detailed step by step

I think Lowes has installation sale this weekend for $59. Can't beat that!!!! They did mine very well. I have installed Forever brand fullview doors before and It took like 4-5 hours. They are a bit harder than the average door.
