If you type in text speak you sound idiotic. It loses the meaning of what you are saying and can take twice a long for the reader to understand what you are saying. And of course it must take you longer to think of the variations of txt talk

I'm afraid that I prefer writing in full. In fact even when I send a text message I will turn off the predictive text facilities and use the long form of all words.

I believe that communication is about passing information and that clarity in communication can only be achieved if we all adhere to the same rules.

When I read answers or questions posted in short or using text speak I find that I have to concentrate harder and read more slowly to discern the meaning than I would if the post had been made in plain English. Consequently any saving in time the poster made has been has been offset by the increased time I have to spend reading it. If I'm in a hurry I will pass over posts employing short or text speak.

As an aside there was some time ago a televised contest between a pair of texters and a pair of Morse code operators. The two teams had to pass the same message across the studio. Despite predictive text and shorthand the Morse operators were faster!

It depends on the question.. I could care less about the points.. so usually stupid questions get equally stupid answers from me..
But if someone is having a difficult time understanding something particular that I know a lot about, I take the time to write out a very long and detailed answer. I like thinking that I have somehow helped them out.. kind of like community service in a wierd way.. donating my time for a worthy cause.
