John Wayne, hands down. I don't deny that he was one of Hollywood's great PERSONALITIES, but he was a wooden actor of extremely limited abilities. Add to that the fact that, by awarding Wayne an undeserved Oscar in 1969, they passed over one of the great film performances of all time; namely, Dustin Hoffman's "Ratso" Rizzo in "Midnight Cowboy."

I have not seen all Oscar winning performances but I would say Cuba Gooding Jr.; Marissa Tomae; Frances McDormand; and that french chic who won for 'the english patient'.
