I play in a blues band and we play all over the world and if not for white people the blues would be dead. It is there heritage, there own music not this rap crap. I hear guys talking about there heritage this and that but the blues started all this other music from rap to country to jazz. go figure

Most blacks "live the Blues".

My dad likes it but then again he's old. Personally I'm sick of hearing that crap after being forced to listen to it as a child. Nobody likes their parent's music.

Since I can only speak for myself I will. Blues in NOT the root of all other forms of music. Gospel is. And gospel begat blues and so on. Way back in the day blues was considered low class, blatantly sexual and surely not good enough for impressionable lily white ears. The same was said about Rock and Roll before Elvis ripped off thousands of Black artists and popularized R&R with millions of white whores and hoodlums.

It is sad that artists like Fats Domino, Little Richard and Chuck Berry will forever be viewed as a historical footnote to that bloated inbred pedophile Elvis.

Elvis was the beginning of the end. When he came along white "artists" started ripping off Black artist left and right. Even Pat Boone recorded a laughable version of "Tutti Frutti" Blues singers like Bonnie Raitt (and I like her!) Stevie Ray Vaughn (hate him) and Johnnie Wynter started sprouting up all over the place claiming Blues roots. HA! Yeah maybe suburban (and I am suburban!) little white boy blues, "I said I need a manicure baby!"

I do have respect for some white blues artists like the aforementioned Bonnie who will admit she likes the purist form of blues. I was never a Beatles fan but Lennon and McCartney said they learned a lot from and admired Black R& B artists. Even Clapton "Mr Slowhand" himself, said, "I may play a good guitar but I will never play the blues like a Black man"

In short in my opinion younger Black people don't go see your band because they consider the blues their parent's music,or because they feel the blues has been perverted into something that is more of a marketing tool than entertainment. Perhaps older people share the latter reason as well.

I am amazed that you even had the nerve to put this out as question to be answered. You may want to book your concerts in predominately black areas or clubs then when no one shows up maybe you will have a claim. Or it may be that your band is not good enough for us to listen to.

I know tons of black people who listen to the blues (I am one of them). Are you asking why black people don't go see blues bands play live? Or why black people don't go see your band?

B.B. King, duh. You are playing in the wrong places. Black people enjoy the blues all over the country. Tour in the south, you will see plenty of blacks.
