I have been on depo for a little while, and am switching to pills. I bled for a month, followed by a horrible yeast infection that I cannot treat because I a nursing a baby. I also have swelling in the face and legs, and have lost my sex drive. Do you know that doctors use depo as chemical castration in sex offenders? there are alot of problems associated with depo, and if you have osteoperosis in your family, depo is proven to deminish bone density after 2 years of use. My doctor wasnt aware that my grandmother has it, and just broke her arm picking up a pitcher of tea!
Do not use depo, it is a horrible drug, it even has a black label on the box, mandated by the fda, just like ciggarettes.

Yup. My gyno suggested it for a DUB - dysfunctional uterine bleed, and I went for it like a schmuck, cause it was a quick fix. After I got the shot, I read the pamphlet and it said "Do not use if diabetic". Well, I wasn't diabetic at that time, I was the opposite - hypoglycemic (low blood sugar). It shot my blood sugar so high, I was graying out for 2 days - til my husband said to take my blood sugar. I was at 180 (normal is 70-100). I have been a diabetic since then.

It did not solve the DUB either, entirely. I went on to have a saliva test, and it showed I was high on testosterone and low on progesterone (why the periods would not stop). A wild yam cream (natural progesterone), from my local health food store, solved the problem when it occurred.

I suggest you get your saliva tested for hormone imbalance.

Was on Depo before I got Pregnant with my first child, then after she was born. I was one of the lucky ones not to get my period while being on Depo. Like your doc said, some react differently.
