The adventures of Mrs. Piggle Wiggle. They were a riot and made me laugh...while I was reading and getting better at reading. Whoever wrote her series of books kept kids noses in the books and we loved it.

when I was young, I won a spelling bee at school,so I got a gift certificate to Walden's books...books were expensive and it was a real treat for me to pick out my own book. I wanted "where the sidewalk ends" by Shel Silverstein.( I checked that book out from the library so many times it probably still has my finger prints on it) well I didn't have enough $ to get it, (and to this day, still don't own it.)..but I found a book instead called "the foundling". I loved that book& read it many times...
I don't think it was a certain "book" I remember the most, it was
my mom -reading to us all as my dad drove on a long trip, I remember laying in bed and her reading to me... the power going out and us gathered around the table reading a story by candle light.....I want to instill that love of books in my son.
some books I remember fondly..
The Hobbit, fish flips, goose goofs off, watership down

I'm not over 30 not even in my 20s, but my favorite story is the "The Three Little Pigs." I like this story because my mom changed the story a little bit. My sisters and I were the little pigs, and my little brother was the big bad wolf. I wasn't the youngest girl, so I of course was the smartest pig. The last time my mom told the story was either last Christmas or the Christmas before. When I have kids, I will tell them this story.

When I was very young I was mad on a book called Bogwoppit! Then I got into the Famous Five & Narnia chronicles. Finally I worked my way up the The Lord Of The Rings which is still one of my favourite books.

Any of the Golden books series (Pokey Little Puppy, The Little Engine That Could), Little House on the Prarie series, Anne of Green Gables series, etc...Can't remember any young children's books except the ones that came with a record and you would listen to it and read and then turn the page when it beeped. Loved those! (Thumbelina, etc..)
Aw, nice trip down memory lane!

Even though I only have nieces and nephews, I wish I still had the book on the merry-go-round horses. Blacky, Whitey and Browny. I still remember that book, and it's pictures.
Also, The Girl who Loved Dragons, Madeline, and Green Eggs and Ham (an interesting and creative culinary idea.)

Watership Down, Nancy Drew Series, The Bobbsey Twins Series, too many more to mention. I've always been a voracious reader. I used to read the cereal box when I was eating breakfast.

I had the original 7 book collection of the " Chronicles of Narnia"...it was the greatest. Each book took you farther and farther into the story. I wish I still had that collection. It came in a hard cardboard holder with the binded edge showing each chronicle.

When the lines for the movie practically went around the block, my parents bought me "Peter Pan" and it has stood the test of time. My wife and sons gave me another copy of it for a more recent Christmas. Even more prized is a hardcover of an early edition of "To Kill a Mockingbird" that I got early in my teens, if I remember correctly. It, too, is a fave, even before I taught it to my English students.

I loved the Chronicles of Narnia. I actually just re-read them, and they were the same books my brother and I shared as a kid. I saved them. :)
I also loved Anne of Green Gables, Little House on the Prairie, The Lorax and Winnie the Pooh.
