Hello..Visit your doctor again..If you suffer in general fron Panic attacks or Generalized Anxiety disorder it is supposed that you have undergone some adequate cure. If that happened all of a sudden it is more probable to be a post-traumetic stress, associated with panic and anxiety..For that condition the best temporarily used medications are Xanax and Valium(Xanax is better). You should visit a good shrink to prescribe you the proper cure that have to include a SSRI antidepressant(Zoloft works fine) and He/She could add you an anxiolitic drug, like Xanax. Propranolol in general is not well tolerated by the patient and I would not prescribe it..Anyway,your feeling of pressure on your chest can be a side effect of the Propranolol intake..If you feel still unsure contact me..Good luck!!

Panic attacks are hard on your body, but they will not kill you.
The tightness you feel may be a side effect of your panic or of the medicine you are taking.
You are right that anxiety disorder feeds itself and can become an ongoing thing.
The good news is that there are many things you can do to reduce or eliminate the attacks. One BIG help is to stop taking all caffeine. Here are some of the things that contain caffeine: soft drinks like Coke or Pepsi, tea, chocolates, coffee and some pain medicines. Eliminate all these from your diet. You may experience a headache for awhile after quitting caffeine, but it will go away and is well worth not having the panic attacks.

You can buy decaff coffee and decaff teas and Coke.If stopping these doesn't help, by all means see a psychologist. He can work with you and may give you a different medicine than what the doctor gave you. There are ways to learn to reduce and eliminate panic attacks by the right foods and techniques of behavior.

Be sure to talk to to someone soon so that you can eliminate the medicine as
the thing that iscausing the chest tightness.
Good luck to you!

Personally, I think that if it is bothering you that much you see your doc. again and if you do don't just except a "there's nothing wrong" answer tell them all the symptoms and if deep down in your gut you are uncomfortable with the doc's answer then get a second opinion. Here are some of my thoughts on what might, key word might be wrong with you first it could be that you have pre-existing Asama condition that was triggered by the panic attacks, then it might just be that you were experiencing effects of the panic attacks before they happened and are still felling them and there could also be something else wrong so make sure that the doc. knows all the facts about your condition. Good Luck sweetheart feel better.

I would definitely go back and see your doctor, it could be a side effect from the medication, or you may be having a reaction.

In the meantime, I would try and take long deep breaths- breathe in and count slowly from 10 to 1, if you are still feeling poorly, repeat it up to 3 times.
There are many different medications to treat anxiety attacks, some work over a long period of time and some work sublingually(under the tongue) for rapid treatment. Perhaps you and doctor can discuss which one might be best for you.

Good Luck to you, I wish you the best.

Chest pain is normal in Panic attacks. You must eat an only natural diet- no stimulants like coffee or MSG, salt. Acupuncture is a good treatment for panic attacks and so is biofeedback. You probably have an energetic physiological imbalance that won't show up on western medical tests although a blood test for anxiety is on the way.

I was fired for having a panic attack at work, fought over it with the Dept. of Labor and my old job ended up having to pay me unemployment. Tell your friend to try something small, maybe a part-time job working in an office. Have him stay from high pressure jobs, like customer service. And tell him to continue with the therapy. I am on disability and work a part time job, just a couple of days a week. It really is good therapy, being able to work. Helps with self control issues and self esteem. I say go for it.

Hi there, I just laugh about my past 3 years of panic now. I was not able to go anywhere without carrying xanax. Fear of having another attack was the most important subject of my days. When i first found joe barry's web site i started to cry because of my happiness.

The medication is worse than the attack. I suffered from panic attacks for about nine years. I learned to fully embrace them and not allow them to controll me. I had to sit down and keep assuring myself that everything is okay.

The worst part about those attacks are the physiological part. It feels as if though you are losing your mind, for your emotions are all over the place.

Again, I did not take any meds. Not everything is about medication. Doctors love nothing more than prescribing strong medication for whatever reason. Ironically, the side effects are worse than any attack. You can survive an attack; you have to train yourself as to what to do.

Yes, go back to the doctor. Having all those panic attacks releases stress hormones that can affect the output of your heart. I'm not saying that you are having a heart attack, but, it could lead to one. Also, you might be experiencing a side effect of the drug.

I'd go back to your doctor just to be sure.
I have panic attacks for a while too. I took a drug called Abilify and they gradually lessened. Now I don't get them at all.
But after they happened, I'd feel really weird for a day or two afterwards. I felt like I wasn't fully in my body/reality.
What triggered your attacks?
