it depends on the situaiton. At work situations, A warning could make them work a bit harder. if you say 'i'll put a note on your file tha you've been warned about this"... nblablabla,, you know it might actually scare them a bit: :-P

The British Crown asked the exact same question about the colonists in 18th century America. Turns out that those "Stubborn" revolutionaries had a few good ideas up their sleeve that weren't among the "acceptable practices" of the time.

Leave them to learn by their own mistakes. I'm stubborn and ignored what was the right choices, but learning by my own mistakes taught me some valuable lessons.
I'm the most stubborn person I know but I do nearly always learn by my mistakes, just takes a long time to get there sometimes, but oh well, nobody is perfect :D:D:D
Being stubborn doesn't make you wrong, it means you're a firm believer in yourself :D but not everything about me was worth believing in, but we all live in hope and we have to lose a degree of belief for that hope to let it go. I firmly believed in something that was wrong but I learned a lot that was right from it

One thing I know about stubborn people is that you can not make them to do anything. If you tell them to do something one way, they will automatically want to do it the opposite way. They can't be strong armed, they will not budge. They are the way they are so don't expect them to change.
That said, if you still want to take on a stubborn person, you must trick them into doing what you want them to do. One way to do that is to make them think that what you want them to do is their idea. They will do something if it came from them and not from you. Another idea is to pretend like you want them to do the opposite of what you want because you know, they won't do what you tell them. You could also act as if you don't care about what they are doing. If you don't draw attention to it, it won't be such a big deal for them to do something different.
Being stubborn is all about preserving ones self. They don't want to be controlled. But, if you are unwilling to just let their behavior go, you have to decide it you are going to fight them till the death, or suck it up, swallow your own pride, and play mind games with them.

yap, good question. how to deal with it? you can try to deal with it but sometimes all your efforts are in vain. this is not a simple thing and can bring one down. my advice? as we all are selfish and act first of all by our interests I think you should try to make you life more acceptable in the way of accepting the differences between humans and that if one of them hurted you or break your freedom just move one. 6 thousand millions of people are there just waithing to meet you. maybe you'll not get the chance to meet all of them, maybe not all of them will get the chance to meet you but at least you stop tormenting yourself and fight against windmills. We, the humans are different, and we act so. Don't blame nobody. Everyone is in he way it is, after all you only need to be yourself the right one. Be a model. I don't guarantee you that is going to be easy but is going to be the best for everyone.
ps: is just an advice, you are free to do whatever you please...

If there really is only one proper way to do something, I let them go about their business and when their way doesn't work out, I quietly do it the way it was supposed to be done. But I would argue black and blue with them if there is a safety issue. The thing is, though, often there is more than one way to do many things. And sometimes we have to let someone else do it the way they normally would. After all, we might learn something new.

You try to avoid dealing with them as much as possible. People like you describe rarely change. It's like arguing with a fanatic. You cannot win. They will continue to do things the wrong way and you may go down with the ship if you continue to relationship.

I just refer them to arrogant control freaks like you knowing that you won't hesitate to humiliate them into doing it the "right" way. Then I hope that they keep you so busy that you stay away from me.
