Should there be an IQ test before people are allowed on Yahoo Q & A? The rate of senile, moronic and dense answers just begins to get on my nerves.

While I appreciate your frustration SOME dumb answers (and indeed questions) can spark an interesting debate. I find it best to just tune out the bad karma and concentrate on the answers that the person has taken time over or has an obvious expertise in.

Just as a thought, I wonder if it would be an idea to show people level next to their name ... although it does not guarantee a good answer it does tend to suggest that the answerer has some idea of what is expected. Perhaps this is a step too far in filtering out folks and creating an exclusive club.

Personally I take the rough with the smooth - idiotic or insulting answers just say more about the person posting them than the question asked.

Peace out

Yes, the quality of answers is degrading. Sadly, the quality of questions is decaying as well (not to offend you). People only answer now because of the points. Maybe you are right; only people with some knowledge should be allowed in this place... Well, I would be outta here too because some of my questions are pointless but oh well, I enjoyed my time here! Take care!

Try putting a qualifier on your question - like "for people over 30" or "serious answers will get 10 points." Otherwise, not much you can do.

That's life in an open forum. If 1 out of 10 answers is good consider yourself lucky.

Cool. You can be in charge of setting up the Mensa section of Yahoo Answers. Let us know when you are done.

I think it depends who is on at the time the catergory it was in, and the complexity of the question in the first place.

I think you are right, although IQ doesn't determine how much useless information you have.
