the two nos are 27 and 189.27+189=216 and the highest common factor of 27,189 is 27 . this is how u get it
the factors of 27 are 3*3*3.
the factors of 189 are 3*3*3*7
the common factors of both these no's are 3,3,3.when u multiply them the answer is 27.

154 and 162 are both even, I think that should make their HCF even.
Anyway if they're only 8 apart they can't both be multiples of 27.
108 and 108 have 108 as a HCF.
