I think you should google for pictures of an auto manufacturing plant. People are mostly there to supply the robots with parts and instructions. they (the robots) build most of the cars. It is like that in other areas too. Robots HAVE replaced us in boring, dangerous and technically demanding jobs all over the world. If you are asking, "will android like creatures take over the world like in the movies"? The answer is probably not. Asimov laws of robotics should keep us safe. they are:
1. A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

Any android like beings would be "instilled" (programed) with this or a very similar set of basic instructions and designed to "turn off" if they acted against them. Sorry matrix fans. sorry I robot fans. Sorry evil little robosapien2's reading this (deactivate; I command you!).

I think u have to look at it from a viewpoint of adjustments being made to the human body rather than building a metal machine. in the not so distant future some of our body parts are going to become obselite and will be replaced with parts that will be able to withstand the pressures of distant space travel. Our bodys will be readjusted to deal with heat exposure, oxygen deprivation amongst other things. This is the next step in evolution for us, we have to get of this planet in order for our species to survive and technology is almost at a stage where we can do this. We are going to evolve into robots.

I think that with proper programming, a robot could be made to have free will. I think what makes us so different is our emotions, our need for love, our ability to make mistakes, the fact that we can regret and hate. The fact that even when we learn from something we don't always necessarily make the right choice the next time. As far as the government...well...they were made to govern. What else can I say?

I think we will BECOME robots, you know, people want to live forever so they'll replace themselves with robot parts. We'll start upgrading our bodies for better performance, add computer chips to our brains to store more info. Add in cell phones. ipods and pc's to our bodies. Metabolism regulators so no one is fat. Start upgrading our childrens bodies with immune system firewalls....that would be pretty freaky!

robots/androids need human to survive for maintenance and upgrade. unless they become super intelligent and self sufficient (like in Matrix) then we are in big trouble. but the way i see it, its not gonna happen, they may replace us in some functions which is now happening in car manufacturing but its unlikely that they will replace us.

No, coz it is the human who has made the robot. To give you an example, God made us, did we replace God after that???

yes!! robots are better than humans. our job is to build AI robots advanced enough so they can be smarter than us and their job is to destroy us. It would be perfect! who knows maybe they will someday have emotions too.

That could only happen if we create the A.I.

It is also possible for Cyborg to replace human.

Men! The Matrix would become reality. lol
