Of a good scientist?

Ruthless pursuit of truth. This is what science is all about. Finding truth. If you don't do this, you might as well start advocating UFO's, telepathy, Global Warming or Evolutionary theory.

Absolute logic and rationality. You can pursue research based on intuition, but you'll always state what can be concluded w/ certainty, and what cannot.

Curiousity. You've got to be curious to pursue science. Why else do it?

Mathmatical ability. Good science requires rigorous math. The better at math you are, the better at science you can be.

Patience/perserverence. Not every experiment is easy, nor do they work as expected. Moreover, you'll fail alot as a scientist. Sometimes it's the equipment, sometimes an experiment isn't going to work the way you've laid out. You've got to keep perservering; fixing things that aren't right, and coming up w/ new ideas when necessary.
