Most of the world's societies are paternalistic-- i.e. "run by men". Maybe that is why the world is so messed up. LOL....

To answer your question: In a world in which men have the most power and authority, a male child has greater chances for success, power and influence.

I don't agree with this philosophy. Obviously, since I am a woman, I think female and male children are equally important and relevant to this world. But I didn't create the world I was born into. ---Some people also think the physically disabled children are expendable. As a disabled adult, I know a lot of people (friends, family, co-workers, students of mine) who would be very dissatisfied to live in world where that philosophy was the norm.

As far as I know, neither of their rights are upheld, and I wish they were. It won't be upheld until abortion is illeagal.
