In the country in which I live, they seem to generally prefer natural births. I had a Ceserean with my daughter, because she was breach, and I was knocked out cold for that. But with my son, I gave birth to him with no help at all, except for my husband and the staff who were great! My labour started about 1.30am, but I had had him by 6.50am, so it wasn't that long, but it was bloody painful at the time!

I gave birth to my son with out any pain medicine and it was not bad. The key is to focus on one thing when the contractions come and try to relax and take deep breaths.

All 5 were born naturally, 3 in the hospital and 2 at home. It was very painful and there were moments I wondered what I was doing without medication but I stuck to it and I am very glad I did.

Women have been giving birth since the beginning of time and without any pain relief so it was MY personal choice to show that I could do it, to myself, that I am also a strong woman and that child birth should be a natural.

My first pregnancy - I was 21 years old and I was in labor for over 30 hours. I got nothing. My second, I did. What is strange about that is - the first labor was long and very very painful BUT the birth itself was not as bad. I think you get so used to the pain of the labor, the birth pain is lessened. He was 8 lbs and I was cut down there.
My second child - labor for over 20 hours (I was 31) -- and did have an epidural which was great through the labor BUT by the time the baby popped out - the birth itself was excruciating -- AND HE WAS ONLY 5 LBS 9 OZ. so, go figure.
Yes, it hurts. But we still do it over and over - wonder why? LOL
It's called love - :)

Congratulations!! WAY TO GO! That is awesome! Especially after you had had a c-section with your first! I tried to go natural...really wanted to - labored without meds for the first 10 hours of strong labor...but, my baby was posterior (face up) and so she wouldnt come down. It was very painful and I wouldnt dilate because of her position...so I got an epidural and the Dr turned her manually in the birth canal - dont think I could have tolerated that without pain meds - but luckily she came down just fine after that - and I only pushed for an hour (the epidural was short lived - didnt last through the whole labor)...so I was happy even though I didnt end up going natural! But, way to go - you are a woman warrior!

I did not have any pain relief when I was giving birth to my daughter. But it was not by choice, by the time I finally arrived at the hospital it was too late!! It hurt alot, and it took me a long time to heal. It was a very fast labour, and she was a pretty big girl weighing in a 8lbs 11oz.

Wow! I am very impressed! I had an epidural and was screaming for the epidural. If I have a second child one day I would love to take a natural birth class and go natural.

My first one was born without any medicine. We barely got to the hospital in time, he was born just 60 min. after we were admitted!! After that, I had 2 girls and had a epidural with each. I used it to speed up the labor and not for the pain, which wasn't that bad anyway

I did so with 3 of my five babies...No drugs, no pain relief at all. For one of the other two I was given one shot and for the other it was a c-section...Congratulations on having a natural birth after a c-section...

I don't know why women give birth without pain meds, esp an epidural, they give you novacaine when you get a root canal, why not get pain meds when your pushing something the size of a watermelon out of your vagina? There are no awards given at the end of delivery (other than your child obviously) for doing it without pain meds.......
