They are pointless. Just an ego ride for the celebs. They wear expensive clothes, such as million pound dresses, when there are people starving in the world. If they have so much spare time, they should help society.

Some of them (celebs) have honestly worked hard to get where they are. And if they do a terrific job playing a specific role, why not recognize them for it?
You know what I think is pointless? Oprah Winfrey giving diamonds and cars to her rich, famous friends. I know she does charity, raises awareness, etc, but her friends can buy all that expensive crap by themselves! She should use the money for something else.

Nonsense! Why, only the other evening, I settled down in front of the TV and sat, glued to the "Awards Awards", for three hours.
The overall winner was The Soap Awards (incidentally won by Imperial Leather for the third year in a row).

Not all celebs are selfish though, a large potion of them do donate money to good causes and help the needy. Some of them are just Tw*ts!

Hey, relax, clown. Everyone gets awards...doctors too. Athletes, too, scholars, girl scouts, boy scouts, etc. Hey, haven't you graduated high school? Remember the little graduation ceremony? Well, celebs have a bigger audience then most, so they televise it. You don't like it, than don't watch it.
