Fight. People have been fighting against occupiers for thousands of years. The IRA fought against British occupation. Palestinians are still fighting against Israeli occupation. Afghans fought against Soviet occupation (with support of many countries, including the US). Americans fought against British occupation. France, the Netherlands and Denmark had "The Resistance" fighting against the Nazi's in WW II. The Scotch fought against British occupation, as did groups in India, Israel and Egypt.

"Insurgency" is a clever term being used to describe the current fighting in Iraq, although inaccurate. An insurgency is "a rebellion or uprising against the government". The "insurgents" are not fighting against "their government", they are fighting against a government forced on them by an occupying force.

The Iraqis are no more "insurgents" than the Americans were in the late 1700's.

First I'd want to know if my homeland was going to be a better safer place because of it and if I'd get a say in what's happening. For instance the romans did a lot for some of the places they occupied but then others just used the resources and left leaving a ruined land.

If foreign forces occupied my homeland ...

of freely elected government,

where the rights of all our citizens are respected ...

and we were not using nerve gas to exterminate our citizens,

our opposition and their families are not tortured raped and killed,

our government did not compensate suicide bombers to attack men women and children,

Our president's children did not abduct, rape, and murder on a whim,

..... I'd kick their asses out!
