As none of the major PC manufactuere make their own parts, they all purchase them from the same small handful of computer parts manufacturers, this is little difference between the brands. You will find the same system boards in a Dell, HP, Compaq, etc. So what you want is to look at is the specs and go for a PC that is listed as a "gaming" PC. That means it will have a top of the line graphic card and a lot of memory. Again, all the major manufacturers making machine specifically rated as "gaming" PC. Just be aware that the "gaming" PCs are usually the most expensive in their line.

I have a Dell desktop computer. I have been using it for abut five years. I cannot say which is "the best." You can get good deals on package prices at Dell. The quality of the equipment is excellent. In my case, the purchase price included delivery and set up by a computer expert, who also gave me some lessons in getting started.
Dell has excellent service support, and it is always available for Dell computers. Dell provides good warranties.

Well, I have over 150 Dell computers at the office. They are dependable and handle graphics work real well. Depending on the amount of money you want to sink into one go with one of the Dell XPS boxes. If you just want to throw money at the problem, you can get one of the Alienware http://www.alienware.com/ boxes or one of the other specialized vendors located on the web.

Personally I think the best desktop computer is one that does everything you need it to do, sooo the best would be one tht you configure yourself from top to bottom.
If you know enough you would be best off building your own system which you could then put eveything you want in there, then you have the best desktop system for you!
