There are so many over the counter remedies that I hesitate to tell you my old fashioned one...my grandmother used to crush a pansie blossom between her fingers and rub it on a poison ivy spot. About half the time it would go away. There is a product called "dermarest" poison ivy mousse that is wonderful for not only controlling the itching but also drying the site up. It is over the counter and available at most pharmacies.

It won't "cure" your skin condition, nor hasten it's healing, but it will soothe it.

Take a 1/2 cup of rolled oats and put them in a large bowl. Pour 2 cups of very cold water over top and let them soak for 1/2 an hour. You can stir the oats around to leech as much of the "milk" out of them as possible. (When you do this, you'll know what I mean about milk. The water starts looking like non-fat milk). Strain the oats out, or use a wire mesh to keep the oats from getting onto the washcloth. Use a washcloth to dip into the liquid and use this as a cold compress on the affected area(s). You can refrigerate your "oat bath" for a couple days. Add to it, or start over fresh.

Just make sure to keep the mixture cold! You don't want to be slathering oatmeal all over you. Unless, of course, you plan on adding butter and brown sugar and serving yourself up as breakfast. ;)
