I guess it all depends on your financial situation. If you can afford to retire, then I say go for it and enjoy yourself.

I retired at 56 for the same reason. I just wanted my life back before it was all used up. I haven't started collecting my SS checks yet and I'm running out of cash. It's been six years and I loved it but I'm thinking of going back to work for a few more years to rebuild my savings. Maybe just for the winter. I like being free all summer.
Too many friends are dying before they reach retirement.
I do have a part time business that isn't paying too good right now. Maybe I can focus on that and stay retired.

Will you get enough of a pension once you retire.? If yes, then hell yeah retire. I retired at the age of 45 years old. I have a decent pension and with the wifes paycheck we live very comfortably. My biggest fear in retiring is I would have nothing to do. I'm so busy now it isn't funny. Go for it and enjoy life. Good Luck.

I thought the retirement age was moved to 65. ? Not sure. The longer you keep working, the more money you'll have coming in from Social Security.

Retire now. Enjoy life, while you still live. If a man`s average dying age is 77, don`t you want to enjoy as many of the last years you can?

Definitely depends on your financial situation & your interests. An important check to do is to look at your Social Security payment options. The monthly payment differs based on how you are when you start collecting. I believe they sound out an updated statement every year - probably around June. You could also check on their website.

It really depends....the place that I work at we have annuitants and they work whenever they want and they seem to be enjoying their retired life. They usually tell me that they like not having to work but sometimes they miss it.
