It would be tough. There is a such thing as temporary disability. I think you can get that for the 6 months. Your doctor would have to fill out forms and help you through the process. If he is willing to do it you have a good shot at getting it. If not, well I dont think it will happen.

Good luck.

You can get short-term disability, don't collect unemployment for something that we all have to pay into though, because it's your choice to try to become pregnant, not ours. Your best bet would be to save up your vacation, personal and sick, ask your boss if you don't have rollover, if you could let those days rollover, look into short-term disability, ask about 6 week maternity leave, and add it all up...should give you enough time to be home as long as oyu need to be plus some time with the new baby. Also, maybe you should look into saving up enought money for 6 months BEFORE trying to get pregnant, if you're going ot be a prent, that seems the responsible thing to do, especially since you're already openly worried aobut finances.

If you worked then maybe you can draw unemployment but if not no you cannot recieve it.

You can't draw disability for being pregnant but if you do have other things wrong with you such as pains in your back or you have a nerve problem. Things that does keep you from working then you could go and sign up on SSI.

It takes a while to get it if they do approve you as being disabled. you will have to call your local disabilty office.

I am not sure about disability but here in MI after the inital time of unemployment runs out you are able to apply for an extension. Techinally you will still be able to work so they should have no problems with doing that (if they provide extensions). For disability your doctor will have to provide a medical reason like pre-term labor or something of that nature in order to qualify (again going by MI laws). I am sure it may be different in every state so you may to do some research of what is offered in you state. Good luck wishing you a health and happy pregnancy!

It depends on where you live. California offers up to 4 weeks pre-delivery and 6 weeks post-delivery of partially paid disability/maternity leave for working eligible mothers-to-be. To collect California maternity disability coverage for a longer period, It's my understanding the you have to be disabled as a result of your preganancy in order to collect this payment, so if your doctor orders you to bed rest for 6 months, my guess is that you'd probably qualify.

If you don't live in California, you should get in touch with your state's disabilty insurance program and ask them questions. They should be able to answer any questions you have.

I actually worked for a company that handled Disability claims. If your company offers Short term Disability (STD) talk to your HR. If a MD takes you out of work ( for any reason) you may be elligible for benefits but be aware of you wait period to be paid. don't use up you vacation and sick time if you do not have to! Talk to your Human Resources as soon as you can!

That depends on your employer. Most places provide short term disability pay (but it's usually only a percentage of your pay).

Don't be selfish. Adopt an unwanted child! People go on disability because of things they cannot control and don't want to be on disability. Don't abuse the system.
