OPRAH WINFREY’s favorite decorator NATE BERKUS lost his partner, photographer Fernando Bengoechea, late last year in the Asian tsunami.
ON MONDAY, JAN. 17, NATE BERKUS, the gay interior designer on “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” appeared on screen for the first time since last year to talk about how his partner perished in the tsunami that hit parts of Asia and Africa on Dec. 26.
Berkus discussed the loss of his partner, photographer Fernando Bengoechea, in a forthright manner. In the past, however, he had appeared to be coy about his sexual orientation (no doubt to encourage his legions of lusty female fans). But on this particular episode, he was frank about his love for Bengoechea and the grief he is suffering from his loss.

Yeah. Actually, his 'lover' (male) died in the tsunami a little over a year ago...they were on vacation somewhere over there and he ended up being swept away.
He's a cutie, that Nate.

U know i don't know! and it vexes me so! cuz Oprah is always calling the guy who was killed in the tsunami his"friend"so i dunno know! but i'd say yes cuz those were lover tears on his face not friend tears!
