The average start of the Arizona monsoons is July 7 and the average end date is Sept 13. Obviously from year to year, it can fluctuate on either end by several weeks.

Note that the technical definition of a monsoon is a regular seasonal shift in regional wind patterns resulting in a change in weather. In Arizona, the winds and weather come from the west or northwest most of the year. During summer, they switch and come mostly from the south and southwest. These southerly winds bring water from the Gulf of Mexico and Gulf of California, resulting in the air becoming more moist and storms more likely.
