I know muscles etc can be overworked, but what about the brain?

BUT; I'm pretty sure that you can *fill* a brain to overflowing.

Mine is full now. I keep trying to put new stuff into it, but it just spills out all over the floor.

I tried putting plugs in my ears, but they just made me go deaf.

The only way around it is to get rid of all the useless information I have stored there. Except, every time there's a space, I read something here on Y!, and fill the little hole up with something arguably more useless than the thing which was there before it.

I sometimes wish I could just do a del *.* on my brain and start all over again, and only fill it with really useful stuff. I don't think it would take too long to fill it up again... I can read quickly.

Yes kind of. You can feel like your brain is going to explode sometimes if you have got a lot on your mind or if you are feeling really low or stressed. So I suppose that would count as overworking your brain.

your brain is a big bundle of nerves.

Nerves don't really get tired like muscles do. Nerves work by releasing chemicals at one end that cause another nerve to start. If a nerve somehow managed to release its entire supply of that chemical, it could not comminicate with other nerves. But the brain has millions of nerves, and many pathways of communication. Under normal circumstances, the brain can find a pathway to transmit information that is not exhausted.

I cannot comment on disease states (epilepsy, etc). In these cases the brain is not working correctly. I will say stroke is more a cardiovascular issue. Blood supply to a part of the brain is cut off, causing that area of the brain to lose oxygen.

I think only you can answer that. I think that too much stress and anxiety can inhibit your ability to think clearly, and if you couple that with too little sleep, it can really be an issue. Couple that with depression and other disorders, and you'll probably feel as though your brain is "overworked".

It can be fatigued, but I don't know about overworked. I suppose it can be overworked, but it would probably take very many years and be very difficult to do.

NO...not in 21st century...about 99% neurons of a normal human being do not function at all just because we think too less a compared to capability of each neuron. Even, Einstein, used only 5.5 % of brain...so do u think that u can over-use it???? NOPE not even in dreams
