I was working on my Windows XP professional & all of a sudden there came a blue screen with a message that some harware is not installed properly, etc. I tried to restart my PC but CTRL+ALT+DEL was not working. Then I tried to open my PC with my other Window i.e. 98. It worked only for once but afterwords stopped working & was asking for system registry. Even I was unable to format PC. I had changed my hard disk & detached all hardwares but again same message was coming at the time of installation of XP. 98 were installed but graphics were a big problem in 98 as well. please guide that whether my RAM is creating a problem or there is some other problem.

Go to the device manager & chec all devices status. Any thing having trouble or ned driver solve that. Not ok? Remove latest added hardware & try. Not the motherboard or processor(LOL). If can try system restro. Restore ur changes. Try ur parts in other working PC. Ur VGA problem in 98 should be driver.

Blue Screen Of Death is what it is called. It usually occurs after a new hardware item has been installed that your PC does not like. If you don't know which hardware is causing it, you may have to try them one at a time, I hope you have lots of extra stuff around. I have seen systems that don't want to work with a certain hard drive. Sometimes it is the RAM, but I have found that bad RAM prevents any booting whatever. Then again it might be a video card or some other item.
It sounds like you are just setting up this system, so start from scratch. I won't go through everything here, but start by resetting the CMOS, and go from there...basically treat it like a new build. ONLY start with the basics, nothing extra. So - 1 harddrive set to master, 1 CD ROM (I try to use a common CD ROM instead of a fancy DVD burner), 1 RAM stick (a 512 is good enough), nothing else is required here. Once you get the system working, you can gradually add all the nice stuff until one of them gives trouble, so you will know that that is the problem.Good luck!

it must be a hardware problem, so you need to isolate the component that is faulty... try the hard disk first - swap in another drive and see if that works.

if you still get the same result, then maybe the RAM isn't seated properly or is faulty, the motherboard could be faulty... check all connections. there could also be a problem with your graphics card...

yes, you know the problem already change the RAM, and the cpu central processing unit(processor ) should be the last thing to check
it can really be the instruction set in it

This sounds like hardware...

I'd methodically change out everything until it went away.

So far... it shoulds like a HOSED HARD-DRIVE. I'd change that out first.

Good luck
