When was the last time you went to one, and which museum was it? Do you LIKE going to museums?

Yes, I go to museums. I'd estimate I visit two to four times a year.
The last museum I visited was the Art Institute of Chicago late last year (aha! I have some catching up to do but no worries, I'll be going back there next week).
I enjoy going to museums very much for several reasons:
Usually it's quiet
Normally I can take my time and browse
Visiting transports me to another place and time on two levels
1. The place and time of what I'm viewing
2. Who I was the last time I visited that particular museum
Museums are fascinating, wonderful places.

Last time I went was to the Natural History Museum in New York. I loved it because I wanted to see the dinosaurs! I don't go often, it really has to be an exhibition of something I want to see..I wouldn't wake up on a day off and say 'I know, I'll go to a museum today!':) Some of the museums in Ireland are great though, have fantastic displays of actually interesting things.

the last big museum i went to was the musee d'orsay in paris, which is one of my favorites. that was a few months ago, though, and i want to go to another.
i love walking through a good museum, one that's laid out well and has genuinely good art, not just third-rate paintings by second-rate artists.
to answer your question, i go to museums whenever i'm in a major city, which is probably 3 or 4 times a year. i have ones in my area that i visit more often if there's an interesting exhibit, but they're nothing like the scale of the met or the louvre.
museum visiting is an acquired taste, like fine wines, and just as pretentious. but i really find it very enjoyable. find one in your area and really look through it for good art, not just breezing past to say that you've done it. try it, you might like it.

Blessed to be able to visit all the Smithsonian museums in DC. Go as often as possible. Natural History and American Indian are my favs.
