parabola is of two types:upward and downwards . the upward is when a>0 and downward is when a<0 . when a>0 the parabola doesnt touch the x axis at d<0 which means that all the values of y are positive and in downward it is the same but d<0 and y is negative

if the parabola didnt intersect the x-axis, its roots probably arent rational numbers.

and the equation for a parabola is ax^2 + bx + c = 0 where a is not zero.
