I have been scanning pictures and filing them, and noticed that they are saving as tif. I want them saved as jpeg and I am wondering how I can change this w/out having to delete file and start over w/ save as...jpeg

The first guy pointed out the GIMP, the is a full featured FREE image manipulation tool that will do what you want plus lots more.
Forget Linux though, there is now a Windows version here:

U can easy change it by extension like. If ur file name is dgdfgfg.tif u can change sfsdfsfdsf.jpg But better way converting by softwres. Lot of softwares avilable. I'm sure u should hav 1 of them.

there are some picture viewing software ( freeware ) that can do this for you in batch (one click for all the conversion job)
lemme check if irfanview or something does that

If you're not afraid of the command line, you can use ImageMagick (freeware license) to convert to and from a variety of different image formats.

Please open the tiff image with adobe photoshop and you can save as any format and any size you want.
