I really enjoyed uni. I decided that I would do a subject I could actually use rather than waste four years and alot of money. My chosen subject was Aeromechanical Systems Engineering (a littel odd for a girl some might say!) and i stayed on for my Masters. I left with 2 degrees and a fiance, good value for money I think! Engineering (especially Aero) is one of the toughest degrees out there along with medicine and veterinary (but not as long!). It is very time consuming and requires lots of different disciplines, Maths, Report Writing, Problem Solving, Design etc etc but is rewarding at the end of it. I was so pleased at both my graduations and now work as an Aerospace Engineer. So yes for me uni was good! i appreciate it isn't for everyone and that the British Government target for 50% of school leavers to go is ridiculous. Don't fell pressurised into going to uni, do what YOU want with your life.

Good luck!

Depends why you want to go to university.

If you go there to get training so that you can get a job when you get out: take something practical like engineering, medicine, teaching or law. You will just be frustrated and broke if you take something else.

If you go there to study something that you are facinated in: pick your favourite subject.

If you go there to meet people and have a fabulous social life: again study anything that interests you.

It takes up a lot of money and time and doesn't guarantee you any 'success' in future life though. So don't just go because you feel you should. You need a better reason than that. If you have a good reason for wanting to be there. It will be great.

University is hard work, it isn't all getting drunk and having fun but if you work hard you can also play hard.
You will learn so much, be able to get a good job and have a fantastic fun time as well.
My time at uni was the best of my life, I wish to god I could do it all again.
You have to be prepared to work at your uni work tho you cannot just party and do well.

Nah, it's rubbish. You spend 13 weeks learning nothing of any value, then pick up the trial exams find out that they have very litle to do with the course you've just done and memorise your answers. Then again there are some who spend years and year at it... I think they're called Arts Students...
