The greatest threat facing life on this planet is us (human beings). We have not learned to live in peace and harmony with each other. Therefore, we are always making wars and G-d forbid, one day, someone will push the button (nuclear) and blow up the whole world. Can it happen, will it happen? Who knows? Only G-d knows (that is if He does really exist - another question).

The human race is the greatest threat ? We are destorying the forests which in turn causes the extintion of some animal species and the cycle continues until we cause our own existance to end.

Us humans are the greatest threat.
our ways of consuming resources, killing wildlife, destroying the ozone, industrialization (leading to global warming, thus causing the ice caps to melt).
There is still hope, if we look towards better ways of conservation of energy, cleaner sources of fuel etc. We can still save the planet.

An eminemt thelogian ( i think it was G.K Chesterton ) was asked almost the same question by a reporter he replied ..."ME".
It would have taken the reporter ages to undertand.
