I have to do a project for my A2 level work next year and I was wondering if anyone could recommend any good art directors. Or just any directors that they like. Except Tim Burton and Spielberg.

All the above plus try Aki Kurismaki, Jim Jarmuch, Edward D. Wood JR. (yes he is the one famous for all the bad films but he was also surprisingly ahead of his time in his ideas especially in Glen Or Glenda), Kenneth Anger, Werna Hertzog, George A. Romero, Stanley Kubrick (but be careful, he made some rubbish as well as some fantastic films) and Buster Keaton. There are many more I could add but your probably sick of me by now!

Lars von Trier, David Lynch, Mike Leigh are all good. Can you specify what the project is about and I can try to think of some more specific recommendations?
