We found the Egyptian people to be warm, generous and friendly. Of course, you must use common sense since there are good and bad people everywhere, and you can be taken advantage of. The Egyptian government is very good about taking security measures to protect their tourists in this area of the world. I would suggest if you plan to travel there that you take a guided tour which will provide more security and help you to avoid a lot of typical travel problems. Treat people with courtesy, respect their traditions and mores, be aware at all times and be friendly.
Egypt is a fascinating country with wonderful, friendly people. We toured the city of Cairo, which is another world all together, plus visited the pyramids and the sphinx of Giza, Sakkara, Luxor, the Valley of the Kings, Aswan, sailed the Nile River and flew out to Abu Simbal which was the highlight of the trip for us. We felt very safe because the the government was very serious about our safety. We went in June, which was horrendous; the heat was terrible. But the history of the country, the beautiful wall engravings, the statuary, hyroglyphics, market places, people, and our wonderful tour guide more than made up for it. The food is different from what we were used to, but very good. The sky was absolutely fabulous with no pollution and you saw people down by the river with oxen, cows, donkeys etc., and felt as though you had stepped back in time. The streets of Cairo are teeming with traffic which include jam packed buses, donkeys, camels, carts, automobiles and pedestrians, all fighting for the right of the road. We visited several bazaars, ate in the local restaurants, and generally had the time of our lives. A beautiful, haunting and gracious country and people. I hope you are able to go and enjoy it as much as we did!! Don't miss Abu Simbal; it is absolutely fascinating and the history behind it is not to be missed.

I had a mixed experience in Egypt. On the whole everyone was very nice and friendly. They were curious about where I was from and what I was doing. However (and I'm assuming this comes from being a woman traveling solo), I had trouble quite a few times with Egyptian men following me, calling out to me, and a few even touching me (which was a big mistake on their part...there's a reason I travel with pepper spray). I want to reiterate though that mine is an extreme cirumstance, and there will be "goodies" and "baddies" anywhere you go. It's a beautiful country with a lot of history and (mostly) lovely people.

I've been to Egypt for a holiday. Egyptians are generally ok. They're nice and hospitable people, but can be annoying when they keep bugging you out on the streets to try to get you to buy something from them or go to their restaurant. They are ok people I think, that was my experience at least. Just watch out for the Beduins, they're dangerous.
