try using settings in the messenger .... No proxies with Fire walll It should work....

If you want to go for Yahoo chat then go wtih yahoo web messenger. nothing to install software for it. just one time process then you can chat everything without knowing anybody.

Go to http:\\messenger.yahoo.com & after then choose web messenger to chat.
