The reasons people use to justify booing John Cena don't make sense to me.

Can't wrestle? - He isn't a great wrestler by any means but some of the biggest stars over the years couldn't wrestle work a lick, like Rock,Hulk Hogan,Andre the Giant,Ultimate Warrior to name just a few.The weren't great technical wrestlers and they didn't get booed.

His gimmick is getting old? - Name one wrestler who consitently freshens his gimmick? They stick with what they have and very few of them ever change.

He only has a few moves? - Most wrestlers have 3 or 4 go-to moves that they always use.Rock has the People's Elbow and the Rock Bottom.Stone Cold has the Stunner.HHH has the Pedigree.HBK has Sweet Chin Music.Angel has the Ankle Lock.
Most guys only have a few moves and they don't get booed for it.

Champ for too long? - Give me a break,Triple HH had the belt for an eternity and wasn't booed for it.JBL had the belt on Smackdown for nearly a year and didn't get booed for it - and both those guys were heels!

John Cena may not be a great wrestler and people may not identify with his hip-hop gimmick but he is a good worker and will promote WWE in whatever way he is able to.That is why he had the belt for so long.Go somewhere to meet the wrestlers and I guarantee you the one guy who will stay for as long as it takes to sign every autograph and take every photo will be John Cena.Triple H won't do that,Ric Flair won't do it,Edge won't do it,HBK won't do it.

People can boo whoever they want but please don't be sheep and just boo someone because it's the 'cool' thing to do.Make up your own mind about the guy.

Very Good Copy and Paste from TIM G. LOL, unoriginal but right on the spot. There shouldn't be any more answers that are even considered.

And might I add I don't hate John Cena per say, but what I do hate is the fact that WWE insults everyones intelligence by pushing him off as a credible Main Event headliner for such an extended period of time. I could actually tollerate John Cena when he was a midcarder or guy who occasionally headlined, but they started pushing him too hard and he got stale, and God knows he cant wrestle well enough to entertain strictly on his in-ring talent. Cena is a microcosm of all the things that are wrong with the WWE rolled up into one nice easy little package, and it makes him an excellent target for pent up frustration from the fans.

AND AMEN TO TEENA9 !!!! A Female fan that finally gets it!!!!

The fans are booing John Cena for the same reason they booed the Rock in 1997. He is being pushed as a young pretty boy goody good and the fans are rebeling against him. WWE needs to turn him heel officially instead of trying to force him down the fans throats. If WWE plays it off good enough, it will ultimately lead to John Cena being one of the biggest draws (heel or babyface) in history.

Because Vince has a hard on for big guys and the fans are sick of having talentless musclemen pushed over guys with real talent. Seriously, have you noticed how many huge steroid freaks have been hired lately? There is Cena, Snitsky, Chris Masters, Battista etc. Not to mention guys who are just big but can't wrestle like The great Khali, Mark Henry and Big Show. There is almost no promotion with the cruiserweight division and Vince hardly ever lets guys like Benoit, Edge and others win the belt. Why should Cena be given the belt over guys like Benoit and Edge who have been there for 10 years? John Cena is not as talented as other wrestlers and the fans are sick of seeing him. They don't just blindly cheer for heroes and boo heals anymore. Now they cheer for whoever is the best athlete.

i think it's because of his gimmick back in ovw
{Ohio valley wrestling} he was brought in as the prototype but when he signed a contract with wwe he was brought in as a rapper then he released an album and the fans were all for cena he had the chains the nuck's when he was
drafted to raw it was the biggest acquisition to date according to Eric bishoff he was still a fan favorite but one day the jersey's the throwbacks
the nuck's and and the chains disappeared but
still the fans were behind but lately his gimmick has been sliding i can't understand if he's a rapper or a marine soldier so that's how it happened and the only reason he didn't win at one night stand because Vince and everybody backstage thought that the fans would riot.one last thing his move set is limited.

If I was there I would boo Cena to, why?, Because I dont ike teh way he wrestles, I know that there are a lot of non thecnical wrestlers who dont get booed, but they at least got charisma.

They also boo because he doesnt deserve to be the champ, he is obviously not better than HHH, that was just a script fight.

I also dont like his rap style, he seems like so arrogant.

He actually isnt a wrestler, he is just a pose used to attract fans who think "tah ip op rokz dud!"

A little thing called X-Pac heat.

Boos are typically a desired reaction for heels in pro wrestling, indicating that the crowd is interested. A wrestler that the crowd cares enough to hate is a wrestler who will draw strong ratings and buyrates. However, the audience will also sometimes boo wrestlers because they're bored and would rather be watching someone else. If they weren't at the show live, they might change the channel, or in the case of a pay-per-view, not bother to order the show at all.

X-Pac Heat, sometimes referred to as Go-away Heat, is heat drawn by people with whom the fans are legitimately bored or annoyed. The term is the namesake of the erstwhile character in World Wrestling Entertainment that was played by Sean Waltman. Waltman's entrances were often some of the loudest of the night, even though the reaction was typically nothing but disdain and mild annoyance. Booing and loudly chanting "X-Pac sucks!" until he went away became something of a running gag for audiences who had no interest in seeing the star in action.

Waltman's disdain with the fans was at a fever pitch during the InVasion storyline, all wrestlers on the then-WWF side were portrayed as faces, yet X-Pac would still get booed and jeered by the fans while his heel Alliance opponents were cheered. This caused the writers to change his character to be the only heel on the WWF side, only wrestling against WWF talent, yet not being a part of The Alliance.

The difference can be subtle, and interpretations can vary. There's often no way to tell the difference between the reaction to a well-crafted heel and a character the fans simply wish would go away. Some fans argue that the phenomenon doesn't even exist at all. Triple H and Jeff Jarrett are both pointed to as evidence - both are frequently accused of generating X-Pac heat, due to their massive amounts of screen time, repetitive performances and perceived arrogance. However, critics point out, this simply makes fans more eager to see them lose. However, there have been times this kind of heat has been received by faces, including the namesake. X-Pac was initially pushed as a face and constantly defeated opponents seen by nearly all fans as superior wrestlers. After prolonged treatment to this push, the fans began to genuinely dislike the character and the man playing it. Other examples include:

Billy Gunn during his attempted main event push after winning the King of the Ring. His lack of charisma and limited ability in the ring as compared to his contemporaries figured prominently in the fans' apathy.

John Cena's prolonged main event push has also garnered him this brand of heat. It's been perceived by many that the reason the fans turned against Cena was because of his formulaic matches and mostly abandoning the cocky freestyling young upstart gimmick that made him a top star.

Even though Waltman is accredited with the term, it is a phenomenon which has occurred even before the fans rebelled against his X-Pac character. In WCW, some years before X-Pac, Shane Douglas and Johnny Ace formed a surfer/skateboarder face tag team known as The Dynamic Dudes, managed by Jim Cornette. Nearly every aspect of the gimmick, from their flourescent tights to their fake California surfer accents, were annoying to the fans and were met with apathy and scattered boos when they wrestled. The fans would even bring signs suggesting the duo were homosexual. When betrayed by Cornette during a match with the team he formerly managed, The Midnight Express, the crowd erupted in cheers. In the WWF (before he became famous), The Rock wrestled as a "young and hungry lion" face gimmicked wrestler known as Rocky Maivia. The constant promoting of him by Jim Ross combined with an annoyingly effervescent character earned him the ire of the fans. It was a common occurrence at this time to see fan signs and chants of "Die, Rocky, Die!" as a sign of how much the majority of the fans had rebelled against his character.

An envolvement of a superstar in a real life event can also garner him/her this type of heat. Shawn Michaels, Vince McMahon, & referee Earl Hebner were loudly booed, particularly in Canada, because of their involvement in the Montreal Screwjob. Edge & Lita received legitimate disdain from fans because of their adulterous affair.
