there are several ways to go about it,
1. hire an attorney
2. go through rural legal services
3. do it yourself- just go to court house and ask for the paperwork and file it yourself.
4. hope the ex files

Considering the facts that you have no property or kids together, and have been separated for so long, you should have a relatively easy time completing the divorce. However, I would still recommend that you get an attorney to ensure that you are protected long-term. You don't say if your husband is in agreement with the divorce, and if he's not, that could cause you some problems. Again, that is where the attorney comes in. It is always best to get professional advice in this type of area that could affect you for many years to come.

With no kids and property involved you can do a do it your self divorce. I don't know Texas laws. But usually you go to the court house get the papers fill them out. Have the other sign them file them at the court. And with in 3 months you will have a court date. After that done.

I do not understand how someone could be "separated" for 4 years. Get a lawyer at your location, if she lives in another state and no kids or property the one that "files" first normally will win and control. When it comes to money or legal issues you could be surprized what lays in store, get it done..

Since you have no children, all that will be required of you is a property settlement agreement where you both declare how your marital assets are to be split up. If you have no assets, you can simply state that and do one of those DIY packages. I don't see the need for a lawyer in your case. Neither of you can squeeze blood from a rock. If there are no assets, then there's no need to pay legal fees.

You can actually get a Family Lawyer for the both of you. As long as you are both comfortable being in the same room together.

Its always good to get a lawyers advice. You can check a few lawyers out before choosing whom you want to represent you. They do give advice on general information for free like your question. you can call and get some answers and than see what options you have. Better to have a lawyer than doing it yourself.

If you haven't divorced yet and you've been separated for four years....chances are you'll never get divorced. Why? After all this time, you're still married!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't think you want to let go, and with that in mind, neither does she.
