the effect of advertisement is to get you to try something new. i most generally will try something new at least once, but if i don't like it, i won't try it again.

Advertising first makes people:
Aware of the product so as to generate,
Interest such that people have a,
Desire to then
Act accordingly and buy the product.
So advertising makes people Think, then Feel and finally Do (Buy)
