I am suing a dog owner in small claims court. A golden retriever severly attacked my 6 month old Boston Terrier, blinding her and slightly inpairing her mobility. It happened in Vet's office.

I don't mean to upset your apple cart, but if another person's dog caused injuries that severe on the premises of a vet, you should not be handling the case yourself. You should be haveing an experienced personal injury atty at least review your case. Odds are, you will expend your one opportunity to get redress in court and come out with much less than you are entitled to. This sounds like one case where "going on the cheap" is a very bad idea.

Dress like you are going to a job interview. Treat the judge & other party respectfully. (ie: yes sir. that's correct, your honor, etc.) Direct ALL comments, statements to the judge, NOT the other party. Were there witnesses? Can you get them to appear on your behalf? Did the vet's office produce any documentation in connection with the incident and can you get a copy of it?

In addition to the previous advice, search on " (your state) small claims court" and familiarize yourself with the procedures before going to court.
