I would think it has something to do with sand and different weather conditions. If you think about eyebrows and how different they are in different ethniticities it helps emphasize why they might be important. Indian and Persian people seem to have thicker and more bushy eye brows and they live in dry desert areas where they would sweat more - but also have more sand. They might even help shade your eyes from the sun like sun glasses. Ive seem some pretty huge eye brows and everyone's seen the infamous "unibrow." The real question isn't why we have them but why they're different in different demographic areas. There are some people who barely have any and then other who look like it takes up their entire face. Why? I'm blond and my eye brows are thin and very light and when I was growing up literally translucent. There seems to be a correlation between climate and body hair and color/ texture/ thickness/ balding even. Blonds also usually have less hair and it's thinner and light skin is associated with colder climates. Which if funny cause you think people would be harrier the colder the climate to try and keep them warm haha. Thinking about it more tho, I dont remember black people having especially thick eye brows? And they're more suited for desert life (biologically) so Id assume it has something to do with sand and eye protection from the sun. Water getting in our eyes isn't that big of a deal and wouldn't make sense in desert areas anyways. Sweat - yes tho. hmmmm

Scientists aren't entirely sure why we kept this hair, but they have a pretty good guess. We know that eyebrows help keep moisture out of our eyes when we sweat or walk around in the rain. The arch shape diverts the rain or sweat around to the sides of our face, keeping our eyes relatively dry. The most obvious advantage of this is that it lets us see clearly when we're sweating a lot or out in the rain. Without eyebrows, getting around in these conditions is a little more difficult. The shape of your brow itself diverts a certain amount of moisture, but eyebrows make a significant difference in your ability to see. Diverting the sweat away is also good because the salt in sweat irritates the eyes, making them sting a little.

I found this off a website...hope it answers your question!

I guess it's part of our distinctive feature. Just imagine if we don't have eyebrows. True we are of different colours, but within the same colour, I'd guess it would be pretty difficult to differentiate one another without the eyebrows. I'm not sure the answer to prevent sweat from entering the eyes would be enough, unless we are talking about eyelashes.

EYEBROWS ARE A VERY DISTINCTIVE PART OF OUR FACIAL FEATURES. THEY ARE ALSO ONE OF OUR EXPRESSIVE FACIAL FEATURES. THEY PROTECT OUR EYES FROM MOISTURE WHEN WE SWEAT OR WALK AROUND IN RAIN .THE ARCH SHAPE DIRECTS MOISTURE AWAY FROM THE EYES. IN OUR CULTURE EYEBROWS SERVE MANY DIFFERENT FUNCTIONS SUCH AS BEAUTY, NONVERBAL COMMUNICATION AND DISTINCTIVE APPEARANCE
