Is it wise to go to downtown Montreal from the airport with a bus/subway, while carrying one big suitcase, one carry-on, and a backpack? What would you suggest me to do? Do so or take a taxi?

Well... If you're going to take the bus to bring you to the subway station...Hummmm with all those bags I don't think its all that wise. Take a Taxi or inform yourself if the Hotel you're staying at provides a shuttle bus..... It's about $35 to take a cab.... Drop your bags!!!! & then take time to take the bus & the subway(metro) to go around the city.

Hope you Enjoy Montreal...........

The easiest way to go from Trudeau airport to Downtown Montreal is using the shuttle bus service called L'Aerobus. It goes directly to the Central Bus Station. It should not be a problem to carry the things you said on this service. Alternatively, you can take bus 204 from the airport to Dorval station. From there, you can take one of the following:

- Commuter train: this has limited service, but is a fast way to get to downtown. The first Metro station that it connects to is Vendome station.

- Metrobus: this is a limited but fast bus service. There are two lines that you can choose from, 173 or 221. Both services arrive at Lionel-Groulx station.

- Regular bus services: you can take bus 191 to Place Saint-Henri station, bus 195 to Angrignon station, bus 202 or 460 to Du College station, or bus 211 to Lionel-Groulx station.

Depends how much money you have...I hate cabs!
Of the city buses the poster above mentioned, the only ones worth taking are the 204 and then the 211 or 221. Make sure you take it "Direction Lionel-Groux". I think the bus is $2. Takes a bit less than an hour total, I'd say.

The Aérobus also stops at 5 downtown hotels: Marriott Château Champlain, Delta Centre-ville, Fairmont the Queen Elizabeth, Sheraton & The Delta Hotel Montréal, as well as the terminal at Berri. The Aérobus costs $16. one way / $26 return, a taxi to the city centre is $38.
