I'm sucker for most pre-19th century movies like Casablanca, Little Women, Sense and Sensibility, bla bla bla...

I tried searching for websites with reviews for such movies but not sure they fall under what genre...any idea? help...

LMAO.. I meant to type Casanova's the movie I like, the one starring Heath Ledger... No, not casablanca!

And I love Chocolat, the one starring Johnny Depp but I guess Chocolat does not fall under "period drama", maybe just romance.

Period Drama for sure. Anything set in a certain "period" e.g. dickens, bronte, austin etc are classed as Period Dramas. BTW another good one, not actually a film but was a series, is BBCs Pride and Prejudice. If you are into period dramas then you will love it!

Casablanca? Set during world war 2. Not quite pre 19th century. The boring title for the other two is "period films" or when they're on telly "costume dramas".

Casablanca scoops most films of its time (and many other times), though I have to say that Bogart is crap at the happy Paris flashback scenes - he looks like an outpatient.

Casablanca was not a period film at that time it was made, it came out in 1940-41 during WW2.

I would say that the old classic book adaptations would be classifies as "Period Dramas" or "Costume Dramas"
They may also be registered as " Classics"

I would advise going to www.talkingpix.co.uk
They definately do reviews of old and classic films.

Enjoy.

The films are so well known that you should be able to find them by title. For genre I'd try drama or romance.

Casablanca is a 20th century movie and would be under classic film.

The others are period pieces.
