Someone I know snorts at times in their sleep, not snore snorts what causes that?

The throat gets dry,air rushes in and then out and the snorting is usually caused from the epiglotus being dry

Sounds like it could be sleep aphnea. It is when you quit breathing on your own. They start again suddenly and it comes out as a snort. It can be a dangerous condition. The person should tell their doctor and maybe a sleep clinic should be consulted.
