To become a designer all you need is some experience in design, sales, and installation of aquascapes. Architect is a title reserved for those who have completed a program of study in landscape architecture (bachelors or masters degree), and depending on the state you live in you need an apprenticeship as well as take an exam to become certified. Only then can you call yourself an architect. Anyone can use the title designer if you have the skills to back it up.
