Bet alot of people expected something bad lol. Anyways. A scientist (when trying to come up with why there are gay people) theorized that back in the caveman days straights would reproduce and the gay people would be the caretakers of children. Like since they can't reproduce they would stay in the cave and care for the children when the other men hunted and the other woman fixed meals cleaned up etc.. Just wondering what your thoughts are on this theory. I thought it pretty intersting myself.

The position as caregiver to adolescents was established in some primitive cultures -- I don't know about cavement. Other tribal cultures used gay men as their medicine men, wise men and witchdoctors. Only a few primitive societies (prior to the advent of monotheism) rejected homosexuals.

It's been a while since I've read much anthropology, but that much I remember.

I think it would make more sence if there is a purely scientific reson.... it would be that it's a form of population control for a area.

If a given area is craped with large numbers of a serten spicies some of them will grow up gay and the population growth will dicress or even turn negitive.

Would be intresting to compare the number of gays that grew up in serten area's and see if the population per square mile has a relation no the number of people in that area that turn out to be gay.

That is an interesting theory. I'll have to do more research before I can say for sure if I agree. Do you remember the name of the scientist? I think it's very possible that this theory could be true. It makes sense.

Hmm that is any interesting theory, bares more thought.

I personally believe that you're born gay, your hard wired that way, don't believe it's a lifestyle choice.

Of itself it suggests two things, that there were gay cavemen (cavewomen) and that they would look after the kids. It (or at least your description of it) doesn't suggest WHY they were gay.

I'd be curious to know more though, do you have a link for it?

that's a very beautiful thought and idea, thanks for making me smile :) but as far as legitimate scientific theories go... I'm pretty sure human behavior including sexual behavior is too diversified, random and chaotic to support a theory like that in total...

That is interesting. I would like to read that theory.
