I have a 30 tall tank with 10 very small fish and 1 small eel

I would add some live rock to the aquarium if you dont have any already. The last thing you want to do is over-crowd the tank, and by the sounds of it, it already has too many fish. Live rock will help the aquarium stay clean, provide adequate hiding for the fish, and can be as exciting as any plant or coral you add. * also try a feather duster, thay are filter feeders and look kind of like a plant.

you can add some calpura and other types of plant material for saltwater. It will grow quickly if you have good light. No much is really to much unless it overtakes your tank. Just cut some out when it gets too thick. Saltwater plants actually really help filter the water.
